ACT Labor Women's Network
Regulation 1. ACT Labor Women's Network Rules
Reg 1.1. Name
(1) Women's Network of the ACT Branch of the Australian Labor Party (ACT Labor Women's Network).
Reg 1.2. Membership
(1) Membership is open to all members who identify as women [herein referred to as "Women"]
(2) Members of the Network are admitted through a resolution at a properly constituted meeting of the Network.
Reg 1.3. Goals and Functions
(1) The goals and functions of the ACT Labor Women's Network are to:
(a) Sustain membership of Women in the ACT ALP;
(b) Create networking and social opportunities for Women within the Party;
(c) Support Women members of the ALP;
(d) Encourage and support the participation of ALP members who are Women within the administration of the party;
(e) Provide a focus for the identification, training and support of Women; (f) Undertake activities to increase awareness of
Women's issues throughout the Branch;
(g) Assist in increasing the commitment of ALP members to greater representation of Women throughout the Branch;
(h) Ensure communication between the Network and other women's groups including the Status of Women Policy Committee;
(i) Create synergies with the National Labor Women's Network and ALP Women's Networks across other states and the Northern Territory.
Reg 1.4. Women's Network Meetings
(1) The Network will meet a minimum of 4 times a year;
(2) The Network may agree to hold additional meetings in any month or to make ad hoc changes if required to accommodate special circumstances.
(3) Quorum for meetings of the Network is five Network members.
Reg 1.5. Annual General Meeting
(1) The AGM of the Network must be held during August or September of each year;
(2) Elections for the positions of Convenor (or co-convenors), Secretary,
Communications Officer; and three ordinary members of the Network executive; (3) As required the ACT Labor nomination for the National Labor Women's Network will be elected at an ACM.
(4) To nominate for executive positions members must have been member of the
Network for 12 months and attended at least two meetings of the Network;
(5) To vote at the AGM members must have attended at least one meeting in the past 12 months.
Reg 1.6. Network Executive
(1) The Network Executive may meet as often as required;
(2) The ACT Labor representative on the National Labor Women's Network and the ACT Labor Women's Coordinator on
Administrative Committee are also voting members of the Executive.
Reg 1.7. Duties of the Network Convenor
(1) The duties of the convenor are:
(a) To convene and chair meetings of the Committee;
(b) To make decisions relating to procedure and the administration of the committee business, in consultation with the secretary of the committee; and (c) To communicate with other Party bodies as required, all external communications will be with the express permission of the Branch President.
Reg 1.8. Duties of the Network Secretary
(1) The duties of the secretary are to:
(a) Communicate meeting notices and record and circulate minutes of meetings;
(b) Receive and send correspondence on behalf of the Network;
Reg 1.9. Duties of the Communications Officer
(1) The duties of the Communications Officer are to:
(a) In coordination with the Secretary and/or Convenor communicate meeting notices and events on approved social media channels;
(b) Moderate Network social media channels as required.
