The differences between the cost of healthcare for men and women can be quite significant. Prescription
medication costs for women specific conditions are often high and there can be significant out of pocket
costs for medical testing.
On top of that, women are more likely to have multiple chronic health conditions and many common
chronic conditions that are no female-specific occur at substantially higher rates in women compared to
men.
General Resolution
Cost of women's healthcare
ACT Labor notes the unfair cost burden faced by women in accessing healthcare, including the cost of medication, in a time where the cost of living is rising, and encourages continued investment in public health and Medicare to keep costs down.
