Preamble
The Right to Disconnect was a feature of recent industrial relations legislation federally. It’s an important concept for the many ACT workers who perform duties outside of ordinary hours, at times with limited recognition through their workplace conditions.

The ACT is a leading location for workplace flexibility and work-life balance, with high relevance to gender equity, where the Right to Disconnect forms an important element.

General Resolution

Supporting the Right to Disconnect

ACT Labor welcomes the federal reform for a Right to Disconnect, and calls on the ACT Government to ensure with unions and employers the swift and full implementation of this condition across ACT workplaces, including in the ACT PS, and calls on the ACT Government to advocate to the federal Government to ensure implementation in the APS.

Access to suitable flexibility arrangements is a crucial matter for gender equity in the workforce across sectors, and for the career progression of women to higher-paying and more senior roles.
