Preamble
At shopping centres or where there is controlled parking 98% of customers park for free because they’re in and out in the free period – but essential retail workers’ often have to pay to park. Shopping centre car parking fees can take anywhere between 3% to 15% of their pay packet.

For many workers with carers responsibilities doing drop offs and pick-ups driving is their only option.

General Resolution

Free safe parking for retail workers

ACT Labor supports a policy of free parking for retail workers in the shopping centres or shopping strips they work in.
