Amendment to 0010G

1.           Strongly supports the student right to protest and demands that ANU:

a) immediately discloses and divests from all stocks, interests and investments with arms and munitions manufacturers; ceases partnerships with companies profiting from genocide including Northrup Grumman and bar them from ANU; 

b) cease targeting individuals students with unspecified and unsubstantiated references to breaches of codes of conduct

2.           In solidarity with union comrades, we support:

b) NTEU and CFMEU in calling for ANU management to cease its threats to evict the peaceful student encampment protesting Israel's assault on Gaza

c) the ACTU calling on the Australian Government to take immediate steps to secure peace by:

•            Using all influence, pressure, and diplomatic measures to achieve a permanent ceasefire.

•            Ending all military trade with Israel

•            Enacting targeted sanctions on Israeli officials who have called for the denial of aid, and military and civil servants denying essential food and materials to civilians of Gaza.

 

3. Express support to all parliamentarians who have advocated for a ceasefire in Gaza, especially those who have been unequivocal in naming and opposing the genocide in Gaza, and having the moral and political clarity and courage to call on the ALP to do so.

 

3.           Send correspondence expressing support to Senator Fatima Payman and MP D'Adam for unequivocally naming and opposing the genocide in Gaza, and having the moral and political clarity and courage to call on the ALP to do so and for their disruption of the stifling of dissent

4.           Send correspondence to the PM and FM expressing: our support for Payman and D'Adam; and asking PM and FM to recognise the profound disconnect between the Australian electorate and the Australian Government on this issue and that it may result in significant electoral damage for the Federal Government at the next election, and noting US president Biden's active support for the genocide is widely regarded as the reason he currently losing in all seven swing states leading up to election later this year

 

5.           Send correspondence to the Jewish Council of Australia thanking them for calling on all state and federal governments to immediately cut all military ties and place sanctions on Israel because of its violencein Gaza.

6.            Thank Jewish human rights defenders everywhere for standing against zionism and in solidarity with the Palestinians.

7.           Muslim, Jew, Christian, secular, Arab, European, black, white, one and all – from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.
