CFMEU Administration
This Conference calls on ACT Labor and the Federal Labor Government to take urgent steps to end theAdministration of the CFMEU Construction & General Division.
Administration of the Union is causing irretrievable damage to the Union and its members and is
inconsistent with recognition of Freedom of Association as protected by the Convention on Freedom of
Association and the Right to Organise (C87) which Australia has ratified.
While it was said that the Administration of the Union was necessary to address allegations of criminality
and corruption in the Union, the Administration which eventuated affected all branches of the Union
including QLD, WA and ACT where there were no allegations. As a result members in those states have had
their freedom of association reduced, merely because they were part of the same union.
Despite extensive investigations, multiple audits and enormous expenditure of members funds, the
Administration has not identified new allegations in QLD, WA or ACT.
This Conference calls for the QLD, WA and ACT Branches of the Union be released from Administration
immediately, allowed to conduct democratic elections and returned to the control of their members; and
for all other branches must be given an immediate path out of Administration with a timeframe of no less
than six months for the conduct of democratic elections.
